Lindorf Glover Crouch, Jr., 80, of 100 Riceville Road, Asheville, died Thursday, March 16, 2006, at The Laurels of Summit Ridge, under the care of Hospice.
A native of Buncombe County, he was the son of the late Lindorf G. Crouch, Sr., and Julia Edwards Crouch. He also was preceded in death by a sister, Pickett Eugenia C. Stafford.
He is survived by a brother, Phillip F. Crouch, Sr., and his wife, Sandra, of Asheville. He is also survived by his nieces Dawn S. Kelso, Sharon S. Greeson, Krista C. Poff, and Karen C. Doucette; nephews Matthew L. Stafford, Phillip F. Crouch, Jr., and Michael C. Crouch; six great nieces, and five great nephews.
Mr. Crouch served his country as a member of the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. He was also a graduate of Emory University and completed graduate work at University of North Carolina at Greensboro studying early childhood education. He then served as headmaster at the Hebrew School in Greensboro. Mr. Crouch moved to New York City in 1977 and returned to Asheville three years ago.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue is assisting with the arrangements.
