Lisa Hawkins Reid, 46, of Candler, died Monday, August 31, 2015 at Mission Hospital, following an extended illness. Mrs. Reid was born August 23, 1969 in Asheville. She worked as an intermediate paramedic for EMS. She enjoyed getting her nails and hair done, and keeping up her appearance. She was a member of Starnes Cove Baptist Church. She was always there for her daughter Sabrina if anything went wrong, to wrap her arms around her and tell her everything was going to be okay, even when she felt bad. Mrs. Reid is survived by her husband of 21 years, Lanny Dale Reid. Lanny was her rock and did everything he possibly could to make sure she was taken care of. She is also survived by her mother, Daisy Gasperson; her father, Don Hawkins and his wife Anita, and son Jayden; daughter, Sabrina Nichole Reid and her boyfriend, Michael Justin "Oompa Loompa" Robinson; sister, Pamela Hawkins Penland; aunts, Hilda Grace Gasperson and Sherry Gasperson; uncle, Cecil Hawkins and wife Helen and their daughter Sonya; nieces, Amanda Penland Morgan and husband Paul, and Kaitlyn Noel Eisenhardt; her shih tzu, JoJo; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral services for Mrs. Reid will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday in the Patton Ave. chapel of Groce Funeral Home, with the Rev. Charlie Sams officiating. Interment will follow at Shepherd Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

    Lisa was such a pretty child and turned into a true beauty as she grew older.

  11. Lanny, I was so shocked to hear of Lisa’s passing. Your love was everlasting and you took such great care of her. Just know that she’s not in pain anymore, and you’ll see each other again, she’s saving you a spot in heaven. She will always be in your heart. I know you, and the family are hurting right now, but she wouldn’t want you to mourn too long, just think of all the good memories you had while she was here with us.
