Resided in: Mills River, NC

Lisa Star Shook, 65, left the party going on at her bedside on Sunday, October 18, 2020.

She was survived by the love of her life, Nancy Worsham. Lisa and Nancy spent 13 years of life together line dancing, canoeing, zip lining, concert going and loving their two kooky pups. One thing Lisa had great pride about was being Mema or Memers to seven grandkids and eight great grandkids and mom to three daughters. She loved her mom and dad with a great depth. She was the oldest of six siblings, loving each of them immensely.

Her life was comprised of so much more than what is written in this piece. Anyone who was lucky enough to meet her walked away with a piece of her. She loved deeply and with a heart of forgiveness. There wasn’t anyone beneath her. Her heart to love others was evident even when she ran Julie’s Subs and more in Etowah. Many guests called her Mom because they felt like family. She had such compassion for her residents at Ardenwood Retirement Community. She built the sweetest relationships with them by taking care of them like family. Everyone was always amazed how Lisa continued relationships with people in her life that most people would have deemed done. This was just example of her caring about the relationship more than the hurt and pain that come from a chapter ending.

Her determined and tenacious spirit assisted her throughout her life to express her passion for what she cared about most. Each of us have a special memory of Lisa, the wife, the mother, the grandma, the daughter, the sister, the aunt, the friend. She will continue to live in each of us if we remember to be kind to each other. Today as we miss her greatly, we know she is dancing again with a healed and complete body. Party on Mom!

  1. We love you so much Memaw! I promise to teach my kids the lessons I swore you knew nothing about but as time continued on it showed me that you were in fact wise and were right. Keep the party going ❤️❤️

  2. I knew Lisa from work at St. Joesph hospital. She was one of the ones that hired me. You could talk to her about anything whether it was related to work or not. She was such a kind and caring person. Thoughts and prayers for you and your family. Sincerely Susan Lewis

  3. So sorry to hear about Lisa’s passing. Our prayers are with the family as they grieve their daughter, mom, sister and grandmother.
