Asheville Butterfly TrailMrs. Barger was a native of Madison County and was a daughter of the late Nathan and Violet Moore Payne. She was a Registered Nurse and a graduate of Mission Hospital Nursing School.
Surviving are her husband Roger L. Barger; one daughter, Patricia Lynne Lawson of Boulder, CO; two sons, Michael Lavon Barger of Petersburg, VA and David Albert Barger of Memphis, TN; a step-daughter, Deanna Bryant of Black Mountain; four sisters, Louetta Edgerton, Mae Suttle, Lillian Wells and Lena Lundy; two brothers, Dale Payne and Ronald Payne; and six grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, 1201 Riverside Drive, Asheville, NC 28804.
Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue will announce the arrangements.
Lois Barger was one of the best bosses I ever worked for.
She was a very caring, loving, & giving person.
She will be greatly missed.
