Lowell Thomas Parks, 65, of Lake Shore Drive, Asheville, died on Tuesday, July 20, 2010.
A native of Madison Co., Mr. Parks was the son of the late Harrison James and Eadie Caldwell Parks.
Mr. Parks was a former member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon and was Chairman of the Deacon Board. He was currently a member of Biltmore Baptist Church. He was also owner of Parks Auto Sales and Collision Repair. He was a strong Christian man who loved family, work, and friends. He was a wonderful husband, father, and Poppy, and will be missed greatly. He was an advisor and mentor to many whom he loved. He also enjoyed traveling, and had visited all of the United States and Canada. He loved antique cars, and car shows, and he loved South Florida, where he spent the winters. He was a Christian who was a witness for his Lord up until the end, and he had no fear of death.
Mr. Parks is survived by his wife of 45 years, Kathy West Parks; son, Rodney Parks and wife Courtney; and grandchildren, Jacob, Caleb, and Reagen.
A celebration of his life will be at 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the Groce Funeral Home chapel on Patton Ave. with the Revs. Mike Leslie, Clayton Casteel, and Keith Watkins officiating. His family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:00 prior to the service at the funeral home.
Special thanks are given to Mike West, Bruce Doan, Cleve Honeycutt, Jerry Griffith, and Doug Phillips for all of the help they gave to his family.
Memorials may be made to Biltmore Baptist Church Missions Fund, 35 Clayton Rd., Arden, NC 28704.

Our family is praying for all of you in this difficult time. God will see you thru. Even though we’ve not seen you guys in a while we still hurt for your family. It seems like yesterday (almost) we were playing ball for ‘Parks Auto Sales’, and Lowell just being easy to talk to and get along with, that’s what I’ll remember. God Bless
He told me ‘Low riders wasn’t the way to go. The old cars are something to look at’.He told me with my back & his brain we were going to go places. I’ll think about you everytime I work on one. I will miss you & love you!
Family, Your loss is Heaven’s gain. Nothing is ever really lost as long as you know where it is. Lowell is not only with the Lord, but his precious Mom and Dad. You are in our prayers.

Dear Kathy:
I was shocked and saddened when I heard that Lowell passed away. I had planned to come and see him but thought that I would wait until he got home. And I truly believed that he would get well and be able to go home. There are no words to tell you how sorry I am for not visiting you both. Lowell was very special to me. Like a ‘big brother’. He is at Home now….with Jesus and with his parents. He is waiting for all of us. I know that when I enter the Gates of Heaven that Lowell will be there waiting for me with that beautiful, sweet smile. Please know that you and the family are in my thoughts and prayers. If there is ANYTHING that I can do…please get in touch with me. Love you, Donna

We’re sorry to hear about Lowell. We understand the grief that you’re going thru. Just hang in there and let the Lord comfort you as He did us when dad passed away. We’re thinking of all of you and praying for you too. Please forgive us we wanted to come to visitation but church obligations prevented us.
In Our Prayers
