Lucy King Jones, 82, of North Turkey Creek Road, Leicester, died Sunday, December 30, 2012.
Mrs. Jones was born in Buncombe County and was a daughter of the late Earl H. and Allie Sharpe King.
She was married to Andrew F. Jones, who died in 2006, and she was also preceded in death by a brother, Howard W. King.
Mrs. Jones enjoyed helping her husband in the operation of their family farm. They were members of Beulah Baptist Church.
She is survived by a son, Larry Jones and his wife, Rose; and sisters, Glenda Henson and husband, Roy, Geraldine Capps, Thelma Wines and husband, Howard, Marie Parker, Jeanette Teague and husband, Jerry, and Argylle Wells.
Funeral services will be at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Revs. Ricky Wolfe and David Plemmons officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service and at other times at the son's home, 893 North Turkey Creek Road.
Interment will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery.
Flowers will be appreciated or memorials may be made to the Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Marlene Weaver, 373 N. Turkey Creek Road, Leicester, NC 28748.

My Aunt Lucy was the most loving person and I am so glad to have had her in my life…I am so sorry Larry. She is singing in Heaven with Daddy!

My thoughts are with all of my aunts (my Daddy’s sisters). I love all of you. I have such great memories of growing up around all of you. My thoughts & prayers are especially with my cousin, Larry. I never dreamed I wouldn’t make it back home to see Lucy once more — I had planned on sending her a school picture of my Andrew — she would have loved it!
