Lucy Leona McElreath Sharp, 90, of Leicester, died Thursday, September 22, 2011, at the Golden Living Center.
Mrs. Sharp was born October 18, 1920 in Buncombe Co., and was a daughter of the late Rev. Lafayette "Fate" and Hester McElreath. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Sharp, who died in 1981; a granddaughter, Donna Lena Hill; three brothers, and three sisters.
Mrs. Sharp is survived by daughters Sandra Rice and husband Marty of Leicester, Kay Badimu and husband Kam of Swannanoa, Donna Hill and husband Tommy of Leicester, Ann Radford and husband Gary of Fairview, and Sheila Sharp and husband Steven Orrell of Greensboro, NC; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren; a sister, Bessie Smith of Leicester; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday at Beulah Baptist Church, with the Reverends Ricky Wolfe, Bobby Smith, and Charles Worley officiating. Interment will follow in the Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery.
Her family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue.
The family wishes to express special appreciation to all those who provided care for Mrs. Sharp.

Sandra, so sorry about your mom. I can understand your grief. She was so blessed to have a daughter like you. You were a blessing to my family when you cared for my sister Nancy Gasperson.
