Margaret Ann Shoffner Young, 82, of Arden, died on Sunday, December 25, 2011, at her residence. Born on January 16, 1929, Mrs. Young was a daughter of the late Carl and Kathryn Shoffner. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Helen Roberts, Dorothy Dalton, and Nancy Allen; by her brother, Bill Shoffner; and by her niece, Lisa Dalton. Mrs. Young retired as an administrator at Overnight Transportation, where she worked for 24 years. She enjoyed reading her Bible, and saying her daily prayers and Rosary. "Mamaw" loved her family and the Christmas season, which makes the 25th of December the appropriate day for her to enter Heaven. She is survived by pet and constant companion, Charlie; by her daughters, Paula Galloway, of Asheville, and Bonni (Ernie) Sigmon, of Arden; sister Kathy (Jerry) Henderson of Asheville; granddaughters, Courtney (Brent) Smith, of Charlotte, Carrington (Michael) Robbins, of Arden, Maegan Henson (Rob Childers), of Arden, and Amber Galloway, of Asheville; great-grandchildren, Jakob Robbins, Carson and Delaney Smith, and Brennen Wright; and many nieces and nephews whom she adored. There will be a brief gathering of friends and family, and a prayer service for Mrs. Young at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. The Rev. Mr. Michael Zboyovski will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ABCCM, Attn: Heating Fund, 30 Cumberland Ave., Asheville, NC 28801.

  17. Dear Kathy,

My words won’t heal your hurt but my thoughts will help support you.
Knowing your sister’s love of God and her want to read her bible, I’m sure she chose 12/25 to go and help our Lord celebrate his birthday. What a wonderful thought and what a marvelous person she is!

    Love you,
