Margaret Brandon Boring

Margaret Brandon Boring died peacefully on July 31, 2025 at Mission Hospital in Asheville due to complications of type 1 Diabetes.

Born and raised in Asheville, Margaret graduated from Lee Edwards High School. She went on to earn her nursing degree from Mercy School of Nursing in Charlotte, N.C. She remained in Charlotte to pursue her nursing career, and after many years as a nurse, she retired for health reasons. Four years ago, she moved back to Asheville and resided at Givens health Center until her death.

In spite of her health challenges, Margaret had a zest for life and a wonderful sense of humor. She loved movies, music, dancing, crafting and especially time with both her immediate and extended family.

Margaret was predeceased by her parents, Dewitt and Jeanne Brandon. To cherish her memory, she leaves a son, James Boring (Wenona) and 7 siblings; Barbara Gregg (John), Patricia Meckler (Jack), DeWitt “Buzzy” Brandon, Cecelia “Cissy” Brown (David), Susan Zaist (Bill), Robert Brandon (Jean), and Cheryl Pressly (John), as well as a large extended family.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of both Givens Health Center and Mission Hospital for the care they provided Margaret in her final years.

A Memorial Mass will be held for Margaret on September 4, 2025 at 11:30 AM at St. Barnabas Catholic Church in Arden.

In lieu of flowers, her family requests that donations be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Groce Funeral Home’s Lake Julian team is assisting the family.
