My heart just sank with this news. Her smile was so warming. Such a great teacher and lady.
Margaret was such a kind person. I played basketball with her at Reynolds and know many of the family members. I was a teacher, also, and it makes my heart so happy to see so many comments from Margaret’s students praising her for her love and concern for them. She has done her work here on earth well!
Such a legacy this precious lady leaves behind. I was a student of hers many years ago at Fairview Elementary School. I am now a classroom teacher of over 17 years now, & it was teachers like her that impacted me & who I am today. Sending a special prayer to her family & to everyone who was blessed to have crossed paths with this amazing human being who touched the hearts and minds of so many.

Aunt Margaret was my teacher in the 5th grade as well, but mostly she was my aunt. I have such fond memories of sharing Christmases with you all and just spending cold days by the fire in their living room when we used to visit growing up. Phil, you and your family are in my prayers. I loved Aunt Margaret and am so glad I got to see her a few weeks ago. She was a great lady and one that will be sorely missed. I’m just glad to know that she is with Jesus and rejoicing with people we love who have gone on before her. It will be a glad reunion day to see her again. Love you guys.
I was one of her many students at Fairview Elementary. She touched so many young lives with the way she loved and cared for her students. She was a very special lady. All her family is in my thoughts and prayers.
May God wrap His arms of love and comfort around all of you who loved Margaret and will greatly miss her. We were classmates at A. C. Reynolds and I admired her quiet, kind spirit. I also admired her skills on the basketball court where she excelled.
Our deepest sympathies are with you all. God has gained an angel for His Heavenly Gospel Choir. . . With love,
She was beautiful inside and out and she loved her family above everything. . She could teach any kind of student. All the kids respected her and loved her. She is someone that you will never forget! Our love to her family.
Phil praying for you and your family. She was truly a loving and kind person. She was a person that had a love for people and for learning. We will never forget her gentle spirit.

Margaret was such a godly Christian woman and touched many lives. She was always thinking about others. You know she is in Heaven now rejoicing with our Savior. Her faith is now sight. So thankful God chose her to be my neighbor here on earth and I hope we are next door neighbors in Heaven too.

Mrs. Roberts was honestly one of the best teachers I ever had. The year I ‘graduated’ from Fairview I had the privilege of writing a letter to the school board to support her Teacher of the Year nomination. I also fondly remember how, when we were acting up as a class, she would playfully put one fist on top of the other and rotate them back and forth, then pull them apart quickly as if she were ready to wring our necks if we didn’t settle down! I’ll never forget her exasperated, but still loving, look, accompanied by eyes rolled up and a sweet laugh! My sincere condolences to all her family and friends.
Phil and Family,
Glad I had the opportunity to meet your mother. She was a very sweet woman and we love you all very much. Very happy to know that she is with the Lord and we will all be together soon. You will be in our prayers.
Our sympathy, thoughs and prayers are with the family! Margaret and her big smile will be gratefully missed
Hey buddy. So sorry to hear about your mom. I know your heart is sad. Mine too. She was an awesome lady. I think back to how many times I stayed in Laurel Haven in the log house. Snow on the ground and a big fire. Mal and Margaret taking care of us. Playing Yahtzee most of the night. I loved those days. I love your family. Be as good as you can and stay strong. I’ll be thinking about all of you.
I will miss Margaret she was a good friend to my sister Betty they were very close. I had a friendship with her too. She was a smart lady & a good witness for her Lord Jesus Christ. May God bless all her remaining family. Her journey is over & she is now resting with Jesus.
Mrs. Roberts was my teacher in 1981. She was a great teacher . She had a kind loving spirit. Much love . Deepest sympathies
Mrs. Roberts was the most wonderful teacher. I had her in 1997 when she taught fifth grade with Mr. Bailey. I would run into her here and there and she always remembered me. She had a way of teaching and making her students feel so special. She is where she belongs because she is a true angel. Thank you Mrs. Roberts…. You were instrumental in my life as a young girl and adult. I will pray for your family and all those suffering your loss much like I am.
Rest In Peace and The Lord Be With You….
Mrs. Roberts was my favorite teacher. I have the fondest memories of her and what she taught me. I am forever going to miss her. She gave me the skills I needed to love education and want to have a successful life. May God Bless her and her loved ones. I surely will miss her.
Margaret was a special friend; when I came to Asheville we talked as if I had never been away. She was loving, sweet, intelligent, and kind; these influences from a friend last a life time. We graduated together from A.C. Reynolds and played basketball together – we had a wonderful time. I know that you will miss her so much and pray that memories of her will lighten your days ahead. God bless all of you.
I am so sorry to hear about Mrs. Roberts. She was a wonderful teacher and such a kind lady. When I was the nurse for Fairview, she was one of my favorite teachers; always concerned for the well-being of her children. We spent many days chatting about the kids, and other things. I remember her with great fondness, and am so sorry for the family and community’s loss.
I have known the Kirstein family for over 50 years and the news of Margaret’s passing is very sad. My Mother, the late Blaine B. Huntley, and Margaret taught at Fairview Elementary for many years together and were very close. I have personally known Tom, the late Nancy Kirstein Race and Coy Kirstein for many years. I remember Lewis at Fairview Elementary and Mollie at C.P. Clare when I worked in the summer after high school before entering college. Margaret has traveled many lonely miles and years without Malvin. Now they are together forever. To Phil and his family plus the surviving siblings my deepest sympathy.
