Marian Hamlin, 82, of Asheville, died on Friday, November 11, 2016, at her home surrounded by her family. A native of Buncombe Co., Marian was a daughter of the late Mondue and Ruby Lee Israel Miller. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Lois Cordell, and brother, Robert Lee Miller. Marian retired from Ingles after 32 years. Following retirement, she loved working at the Biltmore Estate for several more years. She had been an active member of Deaverview Baptist Church and had most recently attended Oak Hill United Methodist Church. Marian loved her God and was a loyal and dedicated friend with a generous heart that embraced all. She enjoyed life and remained her silly, feisty self til the end. Marian loved her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and animals and felt blessed to have been able to watch them grow up. She is survived by her daughter, Sherry Shook and husband Roger, of Asheville; son, Kenny Hamlin and wife Felicia, of Asheville; sister, Bernice Wilson and husband Bud, of Lake Junaluska; grandchildren, Adam Hamlin (Ashley), John Hamlin (Karri), Anna Marie Farmer (Nathan), April Holcombe (Kurt), Jeremiah Dorsey, Michael Dorsey, and Jordan Dorsey; great-grandchildren, Grace, Josie, Kenzie, Colton, Harper, and Kiley; and a number of nieces and nephews whom she loved. The funeral service will be at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Oak Hill United Methodist Church with Pastor Lisa Hartzog and Mr. Matthew Miller officiating. Her family will receive friends for two hours prior to the service at the church beginning at 5:00 p.m. A private burial service for the family will take place at a later date. Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. is assisting the family.

God’s Word can provide that comfort for it speaks of a beautiful hope for the future. John 5:28,29 says, ‘Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out.’ What this can mean for you is a real hope of being reunited with your dead loved ones.
