Marian "May" Daniels

Marian “May” Daniels, 91, of Asheville, NC, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2024. She was born on January 28, 1933, in Newark, NJ.

May was a loving and caring soul who dedicated her life to her family. She grew up caring for her younger siblings and raised her own four children in Honesdale, PA. Known for her meticulous nature, she ran a tight ship, ensuring beds were perfectly made and homes were spotless. May cherished spending holidays and celebrations with her family.

She spent many years working as a bank teller at the Honesdale Dime Bank and at the Wayne County Courthouse for the redevelopment center. After retiring, she moved to Venice, FL, with her husband Arnold Daniels, where they enjoyed some of the happiest years of their lives. They later relocated to Asheville, NC, to be closer to family.

May had a passion for gardening, maintaining a large vegetable garden and a pantry filled with home-canned goods. She also loved planting flowers, especially roses and lilacs. Her lifelong love for the beach included hours of shell and shark teeth hunting.

She is survived by her sisters Adell Peterson and Gale Swingle, her children Fred Price, Brett Price, Sharon Price, and Patricia Price Champion, grandchildren Wesley Price, Cody Price, Meredith Price, Dylan Champion, Natalie Price and Dawson Price. Step-grandchildren Cody Miszler, Nicole Miszler, Josh Daniels. Numerous great-grandchildren, and step-great-grandchildren. May was preceded in death by her husband Arnold Daniels, sister Maureen Swingle, brothers Burt Wilkenloh and Robert Wilkenloh, and a step-grandchild Jessica Daniels.

A celebration of life will be planned for the Summer of 2024, with burial at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain, NC. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Four Seasons Hospice.
