Marie Turner Lewis

Beloved Mom, Mother-in-law, Mamaw, Aunt and Sister, Marie Turner Lewis, 94, passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2024.

She was born in Del Rio, Tennessee on September 21, 1929 to the late Joseph Millard Turner and Bertie Lenore Smith Turner. Marie was preceded in death by siblings; Katie Beatrice Turner Black, Elmer Cecil Turner, James Leroy Turner, Dorothy Lois Turner Young, Troy Turner, Estell Junior Turner, Robert Franklin Turner and Jerry Richard Turner.

Marie married Edward Odell Lewis in 1948, and they were married for 62 years. During these years, they worked hard to build a life together and raise their children. They were involved in their church and loved helping others. Odell passed in 2010. Marie was known for taking care of everyone in her life. She loved her family and her church. She was famous for her cooking, and you could not visit her home without being offered a snack or a meal.

Marie is survived by her daughter, Ruby Lewis McClung (Will), son, Michael Odell Lewis (Sandy), sister, Betty Jean Turner Rice (Frank), grandchildren Angie (Ryan) and Kristi McClung, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, three great-grand kitties and one great-grand dog.

A visitation will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at Fletcher First Baptist Church followed by a Celebration of Life at 11:00am. Burial will follow at Shepherd Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Marie’s memory may be made to Fletcher First Baptist Church or Manna Food Bank (in honor of her love of feeding others).
