Marjorie Elkin Snider

Marjorie Elkin Snider, 87, of Asheville, passed away Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at Aston Park Health Care Center. A native of Buncombe Co., Marjorie was a daughter of the late John and Bertha Hollar Seay. She was also preceded in death by husbands, John Wesley Elkin and Jim L. Snider, sisters Cornelia Jarrett and Nancy Seay and brothers David Seay, H. Morris Seay, and F. Philip Seay. Mrs. Snider was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church. Surviving are her sons, John W. Elkin, III and wife Denise, and Edward Eric Elkin and wife Pam; grandchildren, Brandon Elkin, Brittney Elkin, Angela Parton (Mark), Jonathan R. Elkin (McKenzie), and Timothy Elkin; 4 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday at Green Hills Cemetery, with Dr. Pastor Michael McFarland officiating. The family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff of Aston Park Health Care Center for their loving care of Mrs. Snider. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Emmanuel Lutheran School, 51 Wilburn Place, Asheville, NC 28806. Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. is assisting the family.
