Marjorie Rose Garrigus, 96, formerly of West Asheville, died Thursday, August 22, 2013, at Givens/Highland Farms.
Mrs. Garrigus was born December 21, 1916, in Montpelier, IN, and was a daughter of the late Charlie and Myrtle Cripe Underwood. During WW II she worked at the Pentagon in Military Intelligence. She retired from the Veterans Administration Hospital System and she was a member of Groce United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Alva "Gus" Garrigus, and a son, David Garrigus and his wife, Nancy.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday at Groce United Methodist Church with the Revs. Gerald Davis and Avery White officiating. Private interment will precede the service at Green Hills Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. Monday at the church.
Memorials may be made to Groce United Methodist Church, 954 Tunnel Road, Asheville, NC 28805.
