Marjorie S. Pittman, 86, of Black Mountain, NC passed away on May 10, 2013. Mrs. Pittman was the wife of the late Henry B. Pittman, Jr. and daughter of the late R. T. & Virginia Sugg. Mrs. Pittman was a talented potter and enjoyed sharing her knowledge and love of pottery with others. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Pittman was preceded in death by her brother, Stuart Sugg, and sister, Catherine Long. Surviving are her son, Ken Pittman of Woodbridge, Virginia, daughter, Ginger (John) McGee of Lawrenceville, Georgia, grandchildren, Mitch Pittman of Seattle, Washington, Hannah Pittman of Carrboro, NC, Lauren McGee of New York, NY, and Matt McGee of Lawrenceville, Georgia, a sister, Mary Joyce Pierce of Wilson, NC, several nieces and nephews, and many wonderful friends. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 15th at 1:30 at the Black Mountain United Methodist Church, 101 Church Street, Black Mountain NC 28711, with the Reverends Lynda Briggs, Rick Mills, and Don Shuman officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Black Mountain United Methodist Roof Fund, P.O. Box 517, Black Mountain, NC 28711 or to the charity of your choice. The family wishes to thank Brian Branch, Jody Cordell, and the staff of Highland Farms for their loving care.

  1. We were so sad to hear that Mrs. Marjorie had passed away. She was a wonderful woman that was always so kind and gracious to all who met her. We were talking about her over the holidays when we used a piece of our pottery. And she and Mr. Henry will always hold a special place in our hearts because of Lake Tahoma. God gained another angel!
