Jonathan Mark Mallonee, Sr., 45, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, August 25, 2022, at his home in Candler.

Mark was born March 31, 1977, in Sylva, but had lived in Candler all his life. He attended Western Carolina University, Southwestern Community College, and received an Associate Degree in Building Trades Technology from Haywood Community College. He had worked with several construction firms, including assisting with many of the homes in Biltmore Lake. He also owned and operated Mark Mallonee Construction Co.

His family includes his daughter, Pressley Mallonee, his son, Jonathan Mark Mallonee, Jr.; his mother, Patsy Greene Higdon and her husband, Tom; his father, Thomas Lane Mallonee, Jr. and his wife Angie; a brother, Chris Mallonee and his wife Michele; a nephew, Ryan Mallonee; his maternal grandmother, Helen Greene and stepbrothers Bradley and Stuart Higdon and their families.

Private family graveside services will be at Montmorenci United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Andrea McCumber officiating.

Memorial Donations may be made to Ridgeway Baptist Church or to Montmorenci United Methodist Church.

  1. I am so sorry for the loss. We were thick as thieves growing up. I hate that this happened and that we all lost touch. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help.

  6. Been sending prayers for Mark and family since I heard this incredibly sad news. Lots of wonderful and amazing memories from growing up together are flooding in, and I deeply regret losing touch after high school. I am very humbled and so very appreciative for the times I did share with him. Love and God’s blessings to all family and friends.
