Martha Kobar

On July 2, 2017, we mourn the loss of our mom, Martha Eva Kobar. She was the wife of the late Kelly Kobar, and joined him in heaven on his birthday. Martha was born on December 17, 1920, in Scranton, Pa, and moved to Asheville, NC, in 2006. Martha was a devoted Catholic who prayed the rosary and Catholic Devotion books daily. She worked in the textile industry prior to retirement. She is a member of St. Eugene's Catholic Church. Surviving are her two children, John and Julie and their families. Martha was very special to her granddaughter Allison. We would like to especially thank Dr. Kutob, Lisa (Nurse Practitioneer), Rhonda (encouraged and supported her to walk and maintain her mobility), Andrea (helped her get going in the morning and dropped by to cheer her day), Carmen (brought the daily activities and news of the day program), and all the staff who provided outstanding care and encouragement for our mom. Among other activities at the Laurels at Summit Ridge, Martha enjoyed playing bingo and working on her word find books. Nothing can replace the piece of our heart that belongs to our mom. Please keep her in your prayers. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated by The Rev. Fr. Patrick Cahill at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 8, 2017, at St. Eugene's Catholic Church. Interment will be at the Catheral Mausoleum in Scranton, Pa on Monday, July 10, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Eugene's Catholic Church, 72 Culvern St., Asheville, NC 28004. Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. is assisting the family.

  1. I am so sorry for the loss of your dear loved one. There is a very comforting scripture found at Isaiah 25:8. It says that soon Jehovah will swallow up death forever and that he will wipe away all of the tears. So we can look forward to a time when death will be done away with forever. I hope that this scripture can bring some comfort during this time.

  2. Julie – I’m sorry to hear of your Mom’s passing. I’m thinking of you and your brother,
    Your friend, Carole

  3. I am very sorry to hear of the passing of Aunt Martha, she was a very kind, loving, special lady. My dad, John Kobar, always held a special place in his heart for his brother, Kelly and sister- in-law, Martha when he spoke of them.
My thoughts and prayers are with you, Christopher, Julia and Allison during this difficult time.
    Sincerely,
    Niece, Patti Kobar Abbott
    St. Louis, MO

  4. Aunt Martha was one of the sweetest ladies I had ever met. Always a smile on her face when my Dad (John Kobar), and I visited her and Uncle Kelly.

Heaven has another Angel to look over us.

    Love, Diane
