Marvin Howell "Vine" Freeman

marvin freeman

Marvin Howell “Vine” Freeman, 57, of Goughes Branch Road, passed away suddenly on October 4, 2025. Born on October 20, 1967, Marvin spent nearly his entire life on the same land he grew up on — a place he cherished and worked faithfully, following in his daddy’s footsteps as a proud farmer.

He was preceded in death by his father, W.B. Freeman; his brother, Benjamin Freeman; and his beloved son, Brandon Freeman.

Marvin is survived by his devoted wife, Tammera Freeman; his mother, Nina Freeman; and his siblings, Pansy Meadows, Geraldine “Deanie” Jackson, and Larry Freeman. He was a loving father to Jonathan Freeman (wife Keri, children Damion Freeman, Isabella Freeman, and Amelia Freeman), Brianna Dockery (husband Christian, children Drelynd Dockery, Elijah Dockery, and Cashton Dockery), Emily Reynolds (husband Travis, children Ila Reynolds and Mya Reynolds), and Laken (Abbott) Freeman.

He was a proud and gentle Pop-Pop whose grandchildren brought him endless joy, happiness, and purpose.

A man of deep faith and steady hands, Marvin lived his life devoted purely to those around him. He was known for his hard work, his generous heart, his unforgettable laugh, and the quiet strength that made him the rock of his family. To those who knew him, he wasn’t just a husband, dad, brother, or uncle — he was a savior in small ways every day, always there when someone needed him.

Marvin’s legacy will live on in the family he loved so fiercely, the land he tended so faithfully, and the lessons he left behind about love, strength, and devotion. He will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know him.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 11 at 11:00 a.m. in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to help pay funeral expenses.
