Marvin Ray Taylor, Sr., 87, passed away on Saturday, November 26, 2022.

A native of Buncombe Co., Marvin was a son of the late Charlie Lee and Lacy Lee Guy Taylor. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Rebecca “Becky” Case Taylor; son, Arthur Lee Taylor; sisters, Ethel Taylor, Ruth Garren, Rose NeSmith, and Barbara Black; and brothers, Roy and Lee Taylor.

Mr. Taylor loved to spend his free time mowing grass, hunting and watching NASCAR. Most of all though, he loved spending time with his family.

Surviving are his son, Marvin Ray Taylor, Jr. and wife, Tamra; daughter-in-law, Carol Taylor; grandchildren, Misty Taylor (Wesley Smith), Nathan Taylor (Amber), and Angie McCarson (Lee); great-grandchildren, Allen Taylor (Chloe), Jalen Smith (Genevieve), Hailey Whitted (Chaz), Jacob Taylor, Collin Smith, Savannah Taylor, and Carter Smith; great-great-grandsons, Jaxton and Charlie; aunt, Irene Guy; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Buckner, Shirley Wright (James), Ethel Case, and Helen Taylor; brother-in-law, Neil Black; and a number of nieces and nephews.

His family wishes to express their thanks to Misty Taylor and Genevieve Hendrix, with assistance from Cindy Jordan (Harry) and Diane Haney, for the excellent care and compassion they showed to Marvin for the past three years.

The memorial service for Mr. Taylor will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 3, in the Patton Ave. chapel of Groce Funeral Home, with Rev. Arnold Vess and Eva Farren officiating.

His family will receive friends following the service.
