Mary C. Bruckner, a resident of Fairview for the past seven years, died Tuesday the 9th of October at her home.
Born in 1951 in St. Petersburg, Florida, Mary was raised in Warwick, New York. She graduated from Warwick Valley High School in 1969 and later completed a degree at the Centenary College for Women.
Overcoming polio as child, Mary established herself as a strong, fearless woman. Before she began to raise a family, she lived in several unique parts of the country such as Maine and California. She raised her four children in Palm Harbor, Florida. Not long after she became a Grandma, she moved to Fairview to enjoy a special relationship with her three granddaughters who loved her dearly.
She will be remembered by all those that knew her as loving wife, mother and friend with a fierce wit and a radiant presence that knew no match.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Joe Bruckner and her four children, Joseph, Mahalia, Blaise and Martin and their families. She was predeceased by her parents, Isham L. Martin Jr. and Tryntje Martin Steven.
Groce Funeral Home, Tunnel Road, Asheville, has been entrusted with arrangements.
A memorial service is scheduled on October 15th at Nesbitt's Chapel Methodist Church in Fairview, NC at 2:00 p.m.
