Fletcher – Mary “Libby” Elizabeth Hudson, a life-long resident of Buncombe and Henderson Counties, went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, May 31, 2005, after a four year battle with cancer.
She worked for Kellwood Manufacturing for 25 years and retired from Cane Creek Cycling Components, formerly DiaCompe, after 19 years of dedicated service.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Grace (Robertson) Brown and Charles Robertson; her sister, Katherine Ballard and brothers, Charles Robertson, Jr. and Walter Brown.
Mrs. Hudson is survived by her husband of 46 years, Mr. David Lee Hudson; her daughters, Carol Bencivenga of Mills River and Cheryl Hudson of Arden; brothers, James Robertson of Asheville, Gary Brown of Wyoming and Michael Brown of Alabama; sisters, Betty Ponders of Skyland, Lucille Bassett of Woodfin, Joann Chapman of Asheville, Patricia Brendle of Candler and Elaine Riddle of Weaverville; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Mrs. Hudson was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She will always be remembered by all who met her for her fun-loving and generous spirit, and her love for NASCAR. Libby was the one we could count on to make light of any situation and do anything in her power to help if we were in need. She was genuine and friendly as the day is long and will always hold a special place in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 pm Friday at Shepherd Memorial Park conducted by the Rev. Jim Taylor. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until 12:30 pm Friday at Groce Funeral home at Lake Julian.
Nanny will be missed very much by me and a lot of people. She was one of the most sweetest people I have met in my lifetime, and I will never forget her.She was like my adopted grandmother, just like the rest of the family that I have adopted and been fortunate enough to have in my life.Everyone will be in my thoughts and prayers.I love you all.
Libby was the best aunt anyone could have and we will miss her greatly. She was a joy to be around and made all things brighter.
My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. I loved Mary so and I know all of you are so hurt and sad right now. She was so special to Gilbert and me. He loved to aggraviate her so much. He always called her granny from the time we moved in beside her. I have so many special memories that will forever be in my heart. We love You Wanda and Gilbert.
Libby was a very special lady and I know that she will be missed by her family and friends. However, we rejoice knowing that her suffering is over now and she is at peace with her Lord. I will always remember Libby’s wonderful smile and sense of humor. Keep your memories of her alive in your heart and know that the pain and sadness of losing Libby will ease with time. She will always be with you in thought and spirit. And what a joyous day it will be when again you see her wonderful smile and feel her loving embrace.
God bless you and keep you.
Just wanted you all to know that you are very much in our thoughts and prayers. We all loved Libby so much . . . she knew how to bring a smile to your face no matter what. We cherish all the good times our family shared with Libby . . . she will always hold a very dear and special place in our hearts.
Love,
The Pippin’s
I am so sorry to hear of Libby’s passing. She was such a wonderful person and will be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
I will always remember the good times we had working at Dia-Compe together. Mary was a special person that I will never forget. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Susan Conard
I’m so sorry for your loss. You and your family are in my prayers.
David, our hearts go out to you and your wonderful family. Libby will be deeply missed by so many. We can sympathize with your pain, and we know this is a trying time for each one of you. She is no longer suffering and has went on to a much better place.
I’m sure that all of us can remember Libby in the comical, yet compassionate light that constantly radiated from her soul. We all have our own precious memories of her that we will always cherish. The important thing at this time is to know that she is smiling down on us in heaven because she too remembers all of the good times that we all had with her; and those are the things that have engraved her memory in our minds and in our hearts. Our goal now is to strive to carry on her legacy in our own lives; to be as generous and caring as she was to us, and to have as much fun as she did and will for eternity in God’s kingdom. It is such a shame to those who were not fortunate enough to have known her in this life because when He made her, He broke the mold and there will never be another in the history of this world that could ever compare to my great-aunt, Libby Hudson.
