Mary Isabel McCarthy, 84, formerly of Arden, died Tuesday, April 10, 2007.
A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Reid Lee and Frances Hollifield McElrath and wife of the late Walter McCarthy, who died in 1988. She also was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Ellen Edick, by her sister, Joan Robinson and a brother, Eugene McElrath.
Mrs. McCarthy was a member of Biltmore Baptist Church and a former employee of CP Clare.
She is survived by two sons, Wayne McCarthy of Arden and David Lee McCarthy of Mountain Home; two brothers, Gerald McElrath of Charlotte and Jackie McElrath, of Fletcher; nine grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am Thursday at Calvary Episcopal Churchyard conducted by the Rev. Cecil Robinson.

Miss Mary was always smiling whenever I visited with her. She loved cookies. I loved Miss Mary and I will miss our visits.

I will never forget the fun visits with Isabel and Mary Ellen. What a great mother Isabel was and such a pleasant person to be with. My prayers go out to all her family.
