Mary Jane Stewart

Mary Jane Stewart, 96, of 40 Mt. Olive Church Road, Asheville, died Thursday, February 4, 1999, in an Asheville hospital.

Mrs. Stewart was born in Buncombe County and was a daughter of the late John and Matilda Ledford Lunsford, and was married to William Thomas Stewart, who died in 1972. She was the oldest member of Mt. Olive Baptist CHurch.

She is survived by four daughters, Margaret (Liz) Stewart, Katherine Miller, Patricia Buckner, and Florence Yarborough; three sons, Charles Stewart, Henry Stewart, and James Stewart; 14 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Sunday in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Revs. A.W. Jones and Don Penland officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery.

Her family will receive friends from 7 - 8:30 pm Saturday at the funeral home.
