Mary Veronica Schanen Moore, 71,passed away Saturday, December 12, 2020, at the CarePartners Solace Center.

Mrs. Moore was born March 1, 1949, in Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, to the late Herman and Hilda Mayer Schanen. She retired from Phillip Lithography in Grafton, WI, and moved to Asheville in 1999. Here she worked with her husband, Jerry at a shop at Smiley’s Flea Market.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry; daughter, Angela Johnson; son, Jeremy Bartelt (Julia); grandchildren, Michael Bartelt, Ricky Johnson and Zander Bartelt; and brothers and sisters, Paul Schanen (Olivia), Glen Schanen, Chris Gregorzyski (John), Donald Schanen (the late Annette); Herman Schanen (Martha), Kenny Schanen, Steven Schanen (Debbie), and daughter-in-law, Polly Schanen (the late Roger). She was also preceded in death by her sister Jean Kolkema (John).

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Jimmy Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hills Cemetery.

Funeral services in Groce chapels are limited to 50 and facial masks are required.

Mrs. Moore will lie in repose at the funeral home from 12:00 – 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.
