Matthew Ryan Gresham, 25, died Tuesday, June 17, 2014, following a courageous 12 year battle with leukemia.
Matthew was born in Buncombe County and was a son of Christina Edwards Wykle of Bryson City and Eric K. Gresham of the home. He is also survived by a brother, Adam Keith Gresham of the home; maternal grandfather Wade Edwards; paternal step-grandmother, Joy Gresham, as well as many other loving family and friends.
Matthew attended Enka High School and was a member of New Morgan Hill Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday at New Morgan Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Craig Hamlin and Pastor James Walker officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at New Morgan Hill Baptist Church.

Through the years I have enjoyed spending time with matt, his father and brother during Friends of Santa trips. We always had a great time filled with fun and laughter! I grieve for your loss but rejoice in knowing that he is with his Father and that we will see Matt again!

Matt had such a loving spirit. His hugs made the world a better place. He now can watch over the ones he loved and I feel so blessed to have been a part of his sweet life. We love you forever Matt. Adam and Eric,
You both are in my prayers. It was a long tough battle but the 3 of you fought it with strength and grace. Matt is now free from the pain and the battle. That does not make it any easier for the 2 of you. Eric, you are a perfect example of what a father should be and Adam everyone should have a big brother like you. Find peace in the memories and know that you will find Matt all around you. He will be in the morning breeze, the serenity of the night and gentle rain that falls around you.
