Dearest Pam & Laura (& families),
I have the fondest memories of your parents! Spending the night at your house, the trolls lined up on your wall, listening to the Carpenters. Whenever I visited my Grandparents, I always knew you were right around the corner. My husband, John, & I send our sincerest condolences & deep sympathy on your loss. May God comfort you with peace & fond memories. Your parents’ love story continues in Heaven for all of eternity!
So sorry to see this! He was my Dentist and friend from 1955. Also, he was a friend & neighbor. One of the classiest & friendliest people ever! I actually looked forward to going to Dr Carpenter! He & his pal, Dr Fenton Cunningham were such fun to be around. Max and Wynelle were neighbors & friends. Laura & Pam & families have to be so proud of their parents! God bless & strengthen the family!
Dear Laura and Pam (and your families),
I was very sorry to learn of Dr. Carpenter’s death. Please accept our condolences. A small silver lining perhaps is that the occasion is a reminder of your parents’ friendliness, senses of humor and all-around goodness. It was a privilege to know them growing up, and I wish I knew more people like them now! Thinking of them brings back only the very nicest of memories. Thinking of you all and wishing you the very best.
My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. Your father, Max, was instrumental in assisting my sister Harlean(Liz) with obtaining her dental hygiene degree. He loved life and gave much service to our country and community. Prayers for comfort and peace.

Members of Max Carpenter’s family,
I was sorry to hear of Max’s death. I am a cousin and Travis Carpenter was my father. Max was so good to come visit Daddy when he was in the area. I know he will be missed not only by you his family but his community as well.
It was really great to see him in his uniform in the picture. Again you are in my prayers.
To members of Max Carpenter’s family:
I am a first cousin of Max. My mother was Viola Carpenter Griffin. Max was my dentist for a few years when I lived in Asheville. He was always so friendly and positive about life. I enjoyed knowing him for that time period. I lost contact when I moved away. I extend my prayers and sympathy to all of you. He is someone to be proud to have known. I know you will all miss him. He was always good to keep in touch with my Mother when he was in Rutherford County. That meant a lot to her. My thoughts and prayers are sent your way.
Your Cousin, Martha Griffin Gunter, Hendersonville, NC.
May God’s grace be with you and your family.
Dr. Carpenter was my dentist from the late 1950’s until his retirement. During my time in the Army in Germany our Battalion dentist asked who had done my fillings. I told him Dr. Carpenter and he remarked that it was the best work he had ever seen. They are still in place! After his retirement I saw him a few times and knew that he was enjoying being retired. Kay and I spoke of him often in later years. I thought very highly of him and will miss him. I am very sorry for your loss.
I met Dr. & Mrs. Carpenter while working at Ingles during HS and College. I enjoyed bagging their groceries and talking with them I was interested in dentistry as a career and following graduation returned to Asheville where Max became one of my mentors. What a fun couple and inspiration they were. I hope all find comfort in the way they touched others lives.
