Mayme Allen Brown

Mayme Allen Brown, 76, of 356 Beaverdam Loop Road, Candler, died Wednesday, August 6, 2003, at a local hospital. A native of Buncombe County, she was a daughter of the late Doyce C. and Elizabeth Holcombe Allen. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Edwin Brown, who died in 1988 and by four brothers and two sisters. She was a member of Laurel Hill United Methodist Church. Survivors include two sons, Riley Brown and his wife Shirley of Asheville and Michael G. Brown and his wife Millie of Candler; a sister, Blanche Bennett of Candler; five grandchildren, Donald, Tanya, Shirlene, Billy and Barry and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Saturday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Revs. John Erwin and Ed Worley officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Her family will receive friends from 7:00-8:30 pm Friday at the funeral home.
