Michael Vernon Oliver

Michael Vernon Oliver, 58, of Asheville, died Wednesday, November 12, 2014, at Mission Hospital. Born and raised in Conway, SC, he was a son of the late George Alton Oliver and Helen Goldfinch Oliver. Mr. Oliver attended Conway schools, and graduated from the Carolina School of Broadcasting in Charlotte, NC. He worked as a radio DJ and announcer in Conway and the Horry County area, as well as in the Tabor City, NC area. Mr. Oliver is survived by siblings, Carolina Oliver Hester, George Alton Oliver, Jr., Anna Beth Oliver Doig, and Patrick Arthur Oliver; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A memorial celebration for Mike Oliver will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. at the Historic Myrtle Beach Train Depot, 851 Broadway, Myrtle Beach, SC 29577. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shriner's Hospital for Children of Greenville, SC, www.shrinershosptialsforchildren.org. Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. is assisting the family.
