Mike Walker, 81 years of age, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on August 31, 2025, peacefully at the Hospice Solace Center.
Born in Greeneville, Tennessee on July 2, 1944. His hometown was Rogersville, Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his father, Mike Walker, Sr.; mother, Margaret Cary Walker; infant son, Mason Walker; and brother, David Walker. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Edith Phillips Walker; son, Mead Walker (wife Amy); grandson, Bryson,
granddaughter, Baylor, and sister, Mary Margaret Kenner (husband William).
Mike was a graduate of East Tennessee State University class of 1967. He was a Manufacturing Engineer at Square D the majority of his career. He was a dedicated resident of Asheville, NC, for the better part of 40 years. He played in the Asheville Community Band for 38 years, helped in the Erwin Youth League, drove activity buses and worked ticket booths for Erwin High School, and served on the Board of Directors of the Buncombe County Rescue Squad for 19 years. He was a faithful member of Abernethy UMC until joining Emmanuel Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, Mike’s family asks that any donations be made in his memory to the Buncombe County Rescue Squad or the charity of your choice.

Rest in peace dear Mike
I just learned of Mike’s passing and I’m so sorry for the family’s loss. We were both part of the Squared D Family for many years, and Mike was a very highly thought of engineer who made major contributions to the success of the company. On a personal basis, I always enjoyed my chats with Mike and valued his positive attitude and his good-natured demeaner. My condolences to Edith and the family during this difficult time.
