MILDRED C. HIPPS Mildred Naomi Chambers Hipps, 83, of 19 Baker Drive, Asheville, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, February 20, 2007. Mrs. Hipps was a native and lifelong resident of Asheville and was the daughter of the late Zebulon L., Sr. and Mamie Mack Chambers. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles W. Hipps and by her brother, Z.L. “Bud” Chambers, Jr. She retired from Andrex Industries after 25 years of service. She was a member of West Asheville Baptist Church. Surviving are her daughters, Linda Laube and her husband, Fred, and Kathy Hipps and her son, Ken Hipps, all of Asheville; two grandsons, Kenny Hipps and his wife, Charlotte, of Burnsville and Kevin Hipps and his wife, Leslie, of Weaverville; two great-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren. She was called by the Lord to be a mother and daily she proved her love for her children. She was a gifted woman with many creative abilities. She was blessed by the Lord in many ways and never failed to thank Him for those blessings. She was a Proverbs 31 woman and was a role model to all who knew her. Her sweet, generous spirit touched many lives. Words cannot express how much she will be missed by her loved ones. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Revs. Tony Hooper and David Tucker officiating. Burial will be at Green Hills Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Kenny Hipps, Kevin Hipps, Charles Chambers, James Chambers, Bill Moody, and David Wheeler. Her family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Flowers are appreciated or memorials may be made to Carepartners Hospice, PO Box 25338, Asheville, NC 28813.

  12. Linda, Kathy and Kenneth, It’s been so long since I’ve seen any of you, seems we all stay so busy! I think often of when we were kids – – seems like such a long time ago. Your mom was always so good and kind and I know you will miss her greatly! It’s just great to know we will all be together again someday and that is something to look forward to.
