Master Sergeant Andrew W. “Andy” Wood, USAF (Ret.), 70, of 6 Twin Creeks Road, Fairview, died Monday, August 23, 1999, in the Asheville VA Medical Center.

Sgt. Wood was born in Burke County, GA, and was a son of the late Andrew Roy and Sue Whiteford Wood. He was retired from the US Military, having served with the Army during the Korean Conflict and then the Air Force
during the Vietnam era. He was also a former assistant professor at Brevard County, FL, Community College.

He is survived by a foster son, Gary Stegall and his wife, Jenny of Fairview; two sisters, Dorothy Gay of Waynesboro, GA and Emmie Sue Metts of Callison, SC; two foster grandchildren and a number of nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

Military graveside rites will be provided by the US Air Force at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery in Edgefield, GA at 2:00 pm Thursday.

His family will receive friends from 7 - 8:30 pm Wednesday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue.
