Nancy McAlister Bell

Nancy McAlister Bell, 77, of Asheville, passed away on Friday, January 6, 2017, at her residence. Born in Washington Co., TN, to the late Winford and Alva Martin McAlister, she was an RN in Columbia, SC but after marriage she devoted her life to being a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of Beverly Hills Baptist Church. Preceding her in death are four siblings, Winford "Billy" McAlister, Margaret Eubanks, Dorothy "Dot" Hogan and Bobbie Ameen. Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Carol R. Bell, M.D.; daughters, Laura Bell of Jefferson, WI, and Melissa B. Byrne (Paul) of Greenville, SC; three grandchildren, Ashlyn, Ryan and Colin Byrne, all of Greenville, SC; one brother, Charles McAlister of Garden City, SC and one sister, Mary Ann Anderson of Summerton, SC. A graveside service will be held Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at Ashelawn Gardens of Memory. Rev. Dr. William King will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service at Beverly Hills Baptist Church. Memorials may be made to St. Coletta School, N4637 County Road Y, Jefferson, WI, 53549. Groce Funeral Home on Tunnel Road is assisting the family.
