Nell Goodson Badgett, of Asheville, went to join her husband and be with her heavenly Father on Thursday, June 4, 2009, at Memorial Campus, Mission Hospitals.
A native of Hellier, KY, Mrs. Badgett was the daughter of the late William H. and Roxie Adkins Francis. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Cleve William Badgett, who went to be with the Lord in 1988.
Mrs. Badgett had worked at Ivey's Department Store for many years, and was a 55 year member of First Baptist Church, where she was a group leader of the Dorcas class.
She is survived by her nephews, Ernest and Robert Spalding; nieces, Patricia Krehbiel, and Linda Pendleton; and her sister-in-law, Joyce Goodson, of Phoenix, AZ. She also leaves behind many special friends and very close neighbors of Haw Creek, which she loved so dearly.
A funeral service for Mrs. Badgett will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday at the Groce Funeral Home chapel on Patton Ave. with the Rev. Eddie Morgan and Mrs. Leah Brown officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
Her family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the Groce Funeral Home chapel.

To Nell’s family and extended family, my Mother, Avie Patton and myself send our deepest sympathy. We regret not knowing of Nell’s passing sooner. Nell & CW and my parents ‘courted’ together many years ago. My father was in the VA hosp. when CW worked and they were lifelong friends. We loved Nell. Her eyesight faded but her spirit never did. Love and prayers to all. Let us know if we can help in any way. We would be humbled and honored if we could have a rose cutting from her yard to plant in ours in her memory.
