Nell L. Wells, 84, of 26 Townview Drive, Asheville, died Sunday, January 26, 2003, at her home.
Mrs. Wells was born in Madison County and was a daughter of the late Lattie C. and Gertie Mae Davis West. She was married to the late Royal Lee Wells and was a member of Emma Baptist Church. She was an avid gardener and quilter and a loving mother and grandmother.
She is survived by a daughter, Trudy Waycaster of Asheville; three sons, Jack Wells of Kennesaw, GA, Jim Wells of Monroe, and Steve Wells of the home; a brother, Harvey West of Houston, TX; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am Tuesday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Sorrells officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hills Cemetery.
Her family will receive friends from 7 - 8:30 pm Monday at the funeral home. The family wishes to thank Hospice for their loving care and suggest that memorials be made to Mountain Area Hospice, PO Box 16, Asheville, NC 28813.

Trudy, Jack, Jim, & Steve and other family members of Mrs. Wells, I send my deepest condolences for your loss. It is hard to believe that our old neighborhood has lost so many wonderful people. What we will have left are our memories and I cherish them all. My thoughts are with each of you.
