Neva Agnes Robbins Briggs

Neva "Anita" Agnes Robbins Briggs, 94, quietly passed away at the home of her daughter. She was surrounded by those who loved her.
Mrs. Briggs was a native of Campbell, Missouri and was raised in Oklahoma. She moved to Sacramento, California in WWII and worked on an air field base. She met Daniel, a young Army soldier at a USO social and were married a year later in Oklahoma. After Daniel was discharged from the Army, they settled in Arden, N.C. where they built a life together and raised their four daughters. The family later moved to Fairview, N.C.
Anita loved being a homemaker. She loved her flower gardens and had a passion for quilting. Together, she and Daniel grew beautiful vegetable gardens, much of which they shared with the community. Anita also volunteered at ABCCM where she helped feed the homeless. It was a cause that was dear to her heart. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church where she and Daniel were involved with various activities.
She is survived by her husband of sixty seven years, Daniel Briggs, four daughters, Janette Neal and her fiancé, John Potts of Lexington, NC, Levonia Ann Kennedy and her husband, Richard of Navarre, Florida, Gloria Briggs of Jonesborough and Danette Epley and her husband, Tim of Hendersonville. Mrs. Briggs also survived by nine grandsons and eighteen great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life service for will be held 12:00 noon Tuesday, September 11, 2012 in the chapel of Western Carolina State Veteran's Cemetery in Black Mountain with the Reverend Richard Kennedy, her son-in-law officiating.
After the service, the family will receive friends and family at Westminster Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall 15 Overbrook Place in Asheville for a time of sharing of memories. A lunch will be served.
