FLETCHER ~ Nola Marie Souther Buckner, 89 of Hoopers Creek Road, died Tuesday, July 27, 1999 in an Asheville hospital.

A native of Henderson County, she was the daughter of the late Maude Souther and O.B. Souther, wife of the late Berlin Buckner, who died in 1978, and mother of the late, Marie Buchanan, who died in 1990 and grandmother of the late Glenn Allen Buckner who died in 1980.

She was an inspector with Ruth Original Children’s Clothing and a member of the Hoopers Creek Baptist Church.

Surviving are two daughters, Georgia Fox and Clara Fox of Fairview; three sons, Foy Buckner of Arden, Richard and Frank Buckner of Fletcher; three sisters, Bertha Bacon and Ruth McNeil of Arizona, Blanche Baker of Fletcher; ten grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren.


Funeral services will be held Thursday, at 2:00  pm in  Hoopers Creek Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Lawrence Rhodes and Rev. Odell Barnwell.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 pm Wednesday at the church.  At other times, Mrs. Buckner will remain at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian until being placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service.

Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian is in charge of  arrangements.
