Pamela Messer Stephenson, 53, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, January 5, 2011. A native of Genessee County, Flint, MI, Pamela spent her early years in Waynesville and had lived in Buncombe County for several years. She was a graduate of Tuscola High School and Western Carolina University. She is survived by her husband, Johnny R. Stephenson, Jr; her parents, J. Wallace and Ada Messer; brothers, Randy Messer and his wife, Marlo and Greg Messer and his wife, Lee as well as two nieces, Catherine and Lilly, whom she adored. Pamela was a much loved wife, daughter and sister. She will be greatly missed. A memorial service is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. Sunday, January 9, 2010 in the Tunnel Road Chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Revs. Sandy Giles and Elijah Fish officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Memorials may be made to Waynesville Lions Club, PO Box 1061, Waynesville, NC 28786.

  37. I worked with Pam at BellSouth. I knew her as another employee for years. When I transferred back to Asheville in the Business Office thats when I realized what a truly special person Pam was. Take one day at a time and remember to trust in God and He with help you get through this terrible time in your life. God is a good God and He will not put more on you than you can bear.
