Patsy “Pat” Travis Williams, 78, passed away Tuesday, August 4, 2020 at Mission Hospital.

Mrs. Williams was born in Buncombe County to the late Ralph and Viola Turner Travis. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Cauble Gibbs.

Pat was a resident of Black Mountain most of her life. She graduated from Owen High School, class of 1959. She was office manager and bookkeeper of Goodman & Sons for a number of years. She was a former President of the American Business Women’s Association and former President of the Carolina Realtors Investors Association and the Co-Founder of Kennedy Claim Service. She loved being busy and was an entrepreneur at heart.

She is survived by her significant other, Gene Cole; a brother, Ken Kennedy (Sandy) of Swannanoa; two nieces, Kristie Stamey (Mark) and Erica Kennedy and one nephew, Travis Kennedy.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, August 9, 2020 at 1:00 PM at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian in Arden. Burial will follow at Mountain View Memorial Park in Black Mountain.

Pat will lie in state at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian on Saturday, August 8, 2020 from 2:00 to 5:00 PM. The family will receive friends at the home of Gene Cole on Saturday from 2:00 to 5:00 PM as well. Due to Covid-19, Groce Funeral Home Chapel Services are limited to 50 people and face coverings are required.

  2. Pat and I were friends for many years – even back in her ABWA years. She was such a giving person and would share her knowledge with anyone. She was such a positive person and lots of fun!!! I will miss her but am glad she is now in a peaceful place.

  6. Dear Gene, Ken, Sandy, Erica and family, So sorry for your loss. Life is never easy, and Pat was so sick at times. I am glad she felt good enough to think she could have a birthday party. I am sure she will have it in heaven. We traveled many places together, Washington, DC, Las Vegas, and many more ABWA conventions. But most of all she loved the Beach and Hilton Head the most. That was our next planned trip. Pat, I will miss our long phone conversations. Rest in peace knowing you are loved.

  7. Jacqueline Sykes. Pat was my aunt. She was a very strong woman. She was my go to when I needed to talk. Heaven has gained another set of wings. She will be surely missed so much.🙏🙏🙏
