Peggie Peek Miller, 91, of North Charleston, SC, died Tuesday, July 28, 2009, at Heartland Manor, Hanahan, SC. Born April 15, 1918 in Candler, NC, she was one of seven children. Her father was Kenneth McFee and her mother was Neller Savage Rash, both of Candler. She had five sisters, and one brother, Bessie Plemmons, Ethel McFee, Sally Sharpe, Lela McCall, Lucy McFee and Lee Roy Rash, all of Candler. She was preceded in death by her husband Ralph E. Peek and son, Ronald E. Peek of Candler. She moved to North Charleston, SC in 1946 after WWII, where she and her husband, Ralph E. Peek, and 2 sons, Ronald Edgar Peek, and Allen Craig Peek resided. She was educated in the public schools in Candler, and completed business studies at Rice Business College, Charleston, SC. Peggie was employed for varying periods at the Polaris Missile Base and at the Charleston Air Force Base where she worked at the commissary and military clothing store. She retired from the Module Replacement Facility at the Charleston Naval Shipyard as a Production Controller. During her civil service career she received numerous training certificates and letters of appreciation. She enjoyed bowling in the ladies and the mixed senior leagues. She was also a member of a gardening club in North Charleston and loved her camellias. She took part in Toastmasters Club activities. She enjoyed sewing in the making of clothes and various pieces. Mrs. Miller was a member of Charleston Heights Baptist Church for over 50 years where she served as church secretary, was a department head at a youth grade level in Sunday School, and a member of the WMU. For 23 years she and her husband have been members of St. Thomas Episcopal Church at Park Circle, North Charleston. She was also member of Pole Creek Baptist Church, in Candler. She is survived by her husband of 23 years LeRoy Thomas Miller of North Charleston; son, Allan Craig Peek (Carla), of Lexington, SC; two step sons: Larry Miller (Sharon) of Charleston and Bobby Miller, of North Charleston; granddaughter, Devon Michelle Peek, of Lexington, SC; 4 grandsons, Brendan Scott Peek, of Arden, Allan Craig Peek, Jr., of West Columbia, SC, Christopher Ronald Peek, of Mt. Pleasant, SC, and Eric Jason Peek and wife Gabrielle, of Sarasota, FL, and their children Cameron Judd, McKenzie Anna Peek, and Emma Marie Peek. A funeral service for Mrs. Miller will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday at Pole Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Dennis Thurman officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Her family will receive friends on Friday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. Serving as pallbearers will be Gary Jamison, Jerry Jamison, Ralph McFee, all of Candler, Edward Peek, Dennis Peek, and Jeff Peek, all of Weaverville. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Larry Peek, and Dean Peek, of Weaverville, and Craig Franklin, of Candler. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Heartland Hospice, 1064 Gardner Road, Charleston, SC 29407 or the charity of one's choice.

  1. Peggie was a wonderful, caring, wife, mother and grandmother. I know that while we will miss her, she is now with Ronald and her other family members smiling down on us. I know in my heart she is happy and carefree.
