Perry was born in Fulton County, PA on March 18, 1956, the son of the late Alma (DeShong) and Blair Daniels. He was married to Lisa (Reeder) Daniels on February 5, 1983. Perry frequently expressed how Lisa gave him strength and that he cherished her and their 41 years together.

Mr. Daniels was a devoted Christian who was member of the Trinity Baptist Church in Asheville, NC at the time of his passing.
