Philip Maxwell Chandler

Philip Maxwell Chandler, Loving Father and Husband, passed away Saturday, July 19, 2025.

A native of Iredell County, N.C., he was the son of the late James Maxwell and Mildred Ketchie Chandler.

Survivors are his wife, Doris Greene Chandler; two daughters, Julie C. Gangemi (Brian) of Weaverville and Molly C. Gaines of Black Mountain; six grandchildren, Michael W. Crabb (Jacque), Jessie McLintock, Scott D. Polasky (Tracy), Philip J. Gangemi (Stacy), P.F. “Skipper” Gangemi (Kara), and Julie P. Allen; and eight great-grandchildren, Reagan Crabb, Sammie Gangemi, Sophia Gangemi, Nico Gangemi, Nikki Gangemi, Logan Polasky, Luke Allen and Zach Allen.

He was a retired Insurance Executive, and a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church. He was an Elder in the Church and served many years as Chairman of the Church Finance Committee.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 23 in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home.

The family requests that memorials be made to the great-grandchildren of Philip Chandler for their future education (memorials may be sent in care of Doris Chandler, 556 Barnardsville Hwy, Weaverville, NC 28787), or to a charity of your choice.
