Phoebe Jane Stone Nelson, 91, of Asheville, passed away Friday, December 14, 2018 at Mission Hospital. A native of Ohio, Phoebe was a daughter of the late James and Bernice Stone of Grosse Ile, MI. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Kenneth Walker, second husband, Winston Nelson, and great-granddaughter, Wyntre Gaines. Surviving are her daughter, Laurie Orgass; sons, Christopher Walker and Geoffrey Walker; grandchildren, Lucas Orgass, Drew Orgass, Wells Walker, Melissa Walker, and Kinsey Spencer; and great-grandchildren, Robby Orgass, Avery Orgass, Nora Gaines, and Jaden Gaines. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue is assisting the family.

  1. I cut her hair in Marco Island and Blowing Rock for 30 years, Laurie also, she was a beautiful lady, inside and out. She brought sunshine into my life and to many others. Phobe was the best. Cherish her memory.

  2. I am so sorry for your loss. Death of a loved one is not an easy thing to deal.
    It brings out so many mixed emotions. At times we may not know where to turn. Our Heavenly Father is there for us waiting to comfort and guide us.
    Psalm 34:15, ‘he listen to our cry for help.’? Psalm 34:18, He is close to the brokenhearted. He saves all thoses who are crushed in spirit.’? 2 Peter 5:7 ‘throw your anxieties on him.’? He will substain you. Hope theses scriptures

  3. Phoebe will be greatly missed by all who knew her and, if it hadn’t been for her I wouldn’t be living year-round and enjoying every minute in Blowing Rock, North Carolina.
