Phyllis Jean Coleman

Phyllis Jean Coleman, 90, passed away Thursday, September 11, 2025.

Phyllis was born on September 27, 1934 in Charleston, West Virginia to the late Verna Mae Green and Henry “Jack” Lloyd.

After meeting and marrying her husband, Bruce Coleman, Phyllis had two daughters and worked as a librarian in the Okemos, Michigan Public School system.

She loved reading and doing needlepoint. She lived at Trinity View in Arden the last 4 years of her life.

Phyllis is survived by her daughter Robbie Coleman and son-in-law Don Kendall of Asheville, NC; and her daughter Lisa Coleman of Tucson, AZ.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Bruce, as well as by her three sisters Billie, Patricia, and Jenny; and her brother Joe.

No local service is planned. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian is assisting the family.
