Rachel Elizabeth Goforth Davison, 23, of Candler, passed away Monday, December 7, 2009 at her residence.
A native of Buncombe Co., she was the daughter of Denver Goforth and Kathy Poss Smathers.
In addition to her parents she is survived by her husband, William Davison; her son, Jeremiah Davison; two sisters, Nicole Surratt and twin Megan Rudisill; three step-sisters, Christy Huskins, Jessica Francis and Krystle Smathers ; two step-brothers, Wesley Smathers and Andrew Francis; two brother-in-laws Nathan Surratt and Dustin Rudisill; five nieces; mother and father-in-law Gail and Mike Davison; step-father John Smathers; step-mother Deanna Goforth and grandparents Jerry and Fran Poss.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Revs. Gwen and Wade Hall officiating. Interment will follow at Piney Mountain Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

I know Rachel as Miss Rachel as a caregiver for my daughter Sarah when she was at Crossroads. I am deeply saddened by her sudden loss. Her family and adored husband and son will be in our prayers. My daughter loved Miss Rachel very much. She was and always will have a very special place in our hearts for the lovely lady and teacher that she was.

Rachel was the best. She was a wonderful teacher to my daughter Alayna and a wonderful friend. I will miss her greatly. I am so sorry for her families lose. She loved Will and Jeremiah with all her heart. You’ll be in our daily prayers.

I AM SO SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS. I WORKED WITH RACHEL AT THE DAYCARE. SHE WAS ALWAYS SMILING AND A VERY SWEET PERSON. WE WERE FRIENDS FOR A YEAR THAT I WORKED WITH HER THEN I WOULD GO SEE HER AT THE DAYCARE TO VISIT. SHE WILL BE WELL MISSED. WE HAVE ANOTHER GUARDIAN ANGEL UP THERE WATCHING OVER US. I will miss Rachel immensely. I wish there was some way to make it better. She was good to her friends and her family, never heard her speak ill of anyone. Love and miss you all.

I really wish I could have spent more time with you and it’s been really hard to let go of those memories. I have my family tell me stories about you but I don’t remember. I was just two when you passed and not a day goes by without thinking of you. Now you’re in heaven and watching over me. I love you so much and miss you love your son Jeremiah
