Ralph Augustus Fossett, 72, of Asheville, died Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at the Oaks At Sweeten Creek. A native of Kennebec County, ME, he was the son of the late Arthur Delbert and Mildred Beedle Fossett. A US Navy Veteran, Ralph served Buncombe County for nearly 40 years, mostly as Deputy Registrar in the Vital Records office at the Health Department. He enjoyed traveling and good meals with friends and was a member of The Cathedral of All Souls. Ralph was loved by many and will be sorely missed by those around him. A memorial service will be held at 2:30 PM on Sunday, December 18, 2016 in the Chapel of the John F. Keever, Jr. Hospice Solace Center. A reception will be held at the Solace Center immediately following the service. Interment will be held at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery. Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian is assisting with the arrangements.

  1. What a precious friend and co-worker. I can remember great talks and learning the many wonderful things you loved so much. I remember your mothers recipes that were on the onion skin paper that talked about you when you were young. Looking at old photos and of course FOOD!!!!!!….You will be missed. I love you Ralph and I will see you again my friend!

  7. These past 2 months have been quite a ride Ralph
    from
    Eagles Nest to Mission to Care Partners, to Greentree and The Oaks of Sweeten Creek and I would not change a thing if I could, other than to make u well again…..
    Thanks for the past 40 years of friendship and the many 6am breakfast dates at the Miami….I have not been back since we were there last time…..
    I tried to make the best decisions available for U during this time and I can only hope I have done everything the way u would have wanted it.
    Sterling misses U, but he took the blanket from ur bed and has a wonderful new home
    and
    we will miss U stopping by the flower shop to visit…..

  8. My heart is heavy right now Ralph. The last time I saw you and held your hand and prayed for you to get well, you squeezed my hand so I know you knew me and knew We were praying together. I told you I loved you then and will always. You taught me so much about work stuff but also taught me about Asheville and some history about the area. You will be missed. Luv you.

Ralph was a wonderful friend to me over the years, plus we shared the same birthday date (july 3)……..He was always in to ‘his cars’, which I have been into cars all of my life……But Ralph always had to ‘nicer’ ones, mostly from the 50s,60s,70s………..Where ever you say him, he was always a smiling, friendly, hugable guy! He will be missed to our community! Thanks Ralph, for our friendship over the years!
