Reuben Frank Reemes, 91, of Candler, passed away peacefully at home on July 28, 2012 surrounded by his family.
Born in Madison Co. on March 3, 1921, Mr. Reemes was a son of the late Edward Frank and Ida Payne Reemes.
Reuben was an avid gardener, fisherman and retired member of the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada until he retired. He was an active member of Edgewood Baptist Church and formerly attended Woodland Hills Baptist Church in Weaverville, NC.
He is survived by wife, Roberta Cathleen Taylor Reemes; daughters, Pat Carson, of Knoxville, TN, Wanda Meyer and husband Harald, of Villa Rica, GA, and Brenda Gail Kellis and husband Ron, of Candler, NC; and grandchildren, Mechelle Cooksey and husband Bill, of Fort Lauderdale, FL, and the Bahamas; Jack Goodwin of Jersey, GA; and Brad Kellis of Leicester, NC. He is also survived by sisters, Kathleen Reemes Brown, of Leicester, NC and Evelyn Reemes Clark, of Candler, NC and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He loved his family, friends, and church.
A funeral service for Mr. Reemes will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday in the Groce Funeral Home chapel on Patton Ave. with the Rev. Louis Gibson officiating. Interment will follow at Ashelawn Gardens of Memory.
His family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Edgewood Baptist Church, 61 Moody Ave., Candler, NC 28715.
