  1. Dear Nieces and Nephews of Rev. Morgan,

    May you find comfort from our Lord as your precious Uncle Enoch went to be with the Lord Jesus and with many of your precious relatives. He spent his life serving Jesus Christ and taking the Gospel of Jesus to many people…and now he is with the Saviour he served faithfully for so many years.

    I pray that each one of you have a personal relationship with Jesus. The world we live in today is full of traps, pain and trials. The only way we can live here in this world is living for Jesus and following Him…and then we will live with Him after the death of our earthly bodies. Your Uncle chose this path of life and now he is living with the Savior. Therefore we can face our today and the many tomorrows. Jesus Christ is our only hope!

    I prayed for you today.

    Servant of Christ,

    Vic Howard

  2. Morgan and Helen were ‘ours’ for many years — at Rowan (and my next-door neighbors when I was in high school). His friendship with Leonard Yancey, who several years later became my husband, continued through the years. Helen sang at our wedding and he stood with our pastor to participate in the ceremony. We visited and stayed in touch for 50 years or more.We have kept some of their letters. Our Christian lives have been greatly influenced by this great man of God.I saw him last several months ago, when he could not speak but could clap his hands and laugh — just like always! Leonard was in a wheelchair for his last visit there and died soon afterward. I share in your mourning and shout with joy at his victory!

  3. I have fond memories of E.S. as he came to Grace Baptist in Asheville to be our interim pastor for about 2 years in the mid 80’s. His winsome spirit was something our church needed at the time and he threw himself into the life of our church even as an interim even to the point of playing on our church league softball team (and pitching) even though he was then in his 70s. When we found his fulltime replacement, I commented to the church that I felt that the church had found a younger E.S. Morgan to fill the pulpit and he never forgot that telling me many times over the years afterward how complimented he was to be compared so favorably with our new pastor at the time, Dr. Derrill Smith. When I think of E.S. I smile. I hope I have the same legacy when my time comes.

  4. E.S. was a great friend and he has finally received the blessing of which he preached for so many years. It is ironic that I wrote about his influence on my own life just a few weeks ago in my newspaper column. Though I know he is happy with Jesus, the world is a bit more sad without him.

  5. Enoch was a first cousin to my Daddy, and a wonderful man of God. He made a difference in so many lives and will certainly be missed.
    Heaven will be a brighter place with his presence there.

  6. Dear Morgan Family;
    I was baptized by E.S. in the old sancturay of Newbridge Baptist Church and can still vividly remember all of the times he met with me to pray and discuss my salvation. In particular, I recall his compassion and him having so many scriptures devoted to memory. I am very grateful for having known E.S. and that he led me to Christ at an early age. I know that he is rejoicing in Heaven now and I look forward to seeing him there.
