Rev. Jefferson T. Kesterson, 86, of Black Mountain, died on Saturday, January 24, 2015, at Givens Highland Farms Retirement Community.
A native of Knoxville, TN, Rev. Kesterson was a son of the late Charles and Bess Raines Kesterson. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Marilynn Poole Kesterson.
Rev. Kesterson pastored at numerous churches around the Southeast, including Church of the Covenant, in Greensboro, West Asheville Presbyterian Church, in Asheville, and Thomasboro Presbyterian Church, in Charlotte, from which he retired.
In his spare time, Rev. Kesterson loved tinkering with and collecting watches. He enjoyed disassembling and reassembling them and even designed and built a few of his own.
Rev. Kesterson is survived by his daughters, Lynn Kesterson-Townes and husband Stephen A., of Los Angeles, CA, and Kim Kesterson-Trone, of Greensboro; and grandchildren, Taylor Townes and Olivia Trone.
A graveside service for Rev. Kesterson will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday at Green Hills Cemetery with Rev. Jim Cogswell officiating.
His family will receive friends from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue prior to the service.

Jeff was at the West Asheville church during part of the time that my husband, Dick, was at Black Mountain church. I know that Dick considered Jeff a friend as well as a fellow minister. Now they can renew their friendship.
