Robert Elliott Christopher, 68, passed away Sunday, December 6, 2015 at Duke Hospital in Durham. Mr. Christopher was born in Buncombe County to the late Robert and Emma Sue Christopher. He was also preceded in death by three sisters, Sara Owenbey, Phyllis Garmon and Betty Bass. Robert worked with Norfolk Southern for over 40 years. He was an active member of Avery's Creek United Methodist Church and he enjoyed volunteering in and out of the church community. He loved fishing and also supporting his kids and grand-kids in all of their ballgames and track meets. He will surely be missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife, Theresa "T" Christopher; a son, Scott Christopher and his wife, Emily; a daughter, Marquita Tate and her husband, Jeff; a sister, Marie Barak and three grandchildren, Dylan Christopher, Conner Tate and Abigail Tate. A memorial service will be held at Avery's Creek United Methodist Church on Friday, December 11, 2015 at 2:00 pm with Reverend Cowles Bristol officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:30 to 2:00 at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Avery's Creek United Methodist Church Men's Group.

  4. I am sorry to hear about Bob’s passing. I have very fond memories, in my younger years of Bob, and all of your family. He and dad will be able to walk the streets of gold together now. We will be keep your family in our prayers.

  5. I like many other children spent many days in the home of Bobby and T. I share so many fond memories as a child and as an adult. I am so saddened and pray for all the family, friends, and community in their grief. Love to all in this time.

  10. His memory will always live on in our household. He was such a crucial part of Benton’s life and upbringing. Benton always talked about being outside and riding the tractor and just the love that constantly surrounded all the kids. Bobby was such a wonderful role model for what a man should be. He’ll be sadly missed.
